Timothy W. Caldwell

Timothy W. Caldwell

Counselor at Law

Timothy W. Caldwell, Counselor at Law, has 26 years of experience in the Upper Valley and since 1997, has concentrated his practice on estate planning and settlement. He graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College and earned his Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center. He served as chair and member of the Lyme School Board, the New England Nordic Ski Association, the Upper Valley Planned Giving Council, and was instrumental in establishing LeaveALegacy®NH/VT.  Tim is also a Respecting Choices® Advance Care Planning Certified Facilitator. Currently he serves as a Regional Advisor to the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and is a coach for the Ford Sayre Cross Country Ski Team.

Prior to practicing law, Tim was a competitive cross country skier. He competed in four Olympics and three World Championships. He and his wife, Margaret, a long-time Social Studies teacher at Hanover High School have lived in Lyme Center, New Hampshire, since 1989. Margaret and Tim have three children: Lucy, lives in London and works for Deliotte, Heidi is a graduate student at the University of Vermont, and Patrick is a senior at Dartmouth College. The family enjoys a variety of activities including skiing, hiking, swimming and spending time with friends and relatives.

Renée A. Harvey

Renée A. Harvey

Counselor at Law

Renée A. Harvey, Counselor at Law, has worked in the New York, Vermont and New Hampshire legal systems since 1990. She is a graduate of Vermont Law School and is licensed to practice law in the state and federal courts of Vermont and New Hampshire. Her practice focuses on estate planning and settlement, assisting clients with making informed decisions. She is a Respecting Choices® Advance Care Planning Certified Facilitator and she is a certified mediator. Renée also serves on the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Committee, the Patient Choices Vermont Advisory Committee, and is a lecturer at various local institutions. She is the managing partner of Caldwell Law.
James L. Thaxton

James L. Thaxton

Counselor at Law

James L. Thaxton, Counselor at Law, joined Caldwell Law in October 2015. Jamie received his Juris Doctorate and Master’s Degree in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School in 2001 and is licensed to practice law in the state and federal courts of New Hampshire. His responsibilities include Medicaid and estate planning, real estate transactions, and assisting clients with estate settlement. He is also a Respecting Choices® Advance Care Planning Certified Facilitator. In addition to his law practice, Jamie volunteers his time with several non-profit organizations and sits on the Town of Thetford (Vermont), Planning Commission.

Pamela J. Brackett

Paralegal

Pamela J. Brackett joined Caldwell Law in June of 2019.  Pam has worked in the Upper Valley legal field for more than 30 years. Her focus at Caldwell Law is on assisting our clients with the titling of their assets as well as estate and trust settlement.

Julie W. Cryans

Client Service Coordinator

Julie W. Cryans joined Caldwell Law in September 2016. Julie has over 25 years of administrative experience in the field of law.  Her responsibilities include welcoming visitors, providing customer service, and coordinating and executing special events.

Jaclyn R. Hatt

Paralegal

Jaclyn R. Hatt joined Caldwell Law in 2008. Her primary role is drafting legal documents as well as organizing Tim’s schedule. In 2008, she earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Paralegal Studies from Champlain College.

Terrie L. Kelly

Paralegal

Terrie L. Kelly joined Caldwell Law in September 2019.  Terrie has many years’ experience in asset titling.  She assists clients with titling assets in a manner consistent with their estate plan, conducts asset titling workshops for both trust-based and will-based plans, and organizes our annual Lifeplan titling review.

Linda L. Lagasse

Front Office Coordinator

Linda L. Lagasse, Front Office Coordinator, joined Caldwell Law in January 2019. Her responsibilities include welcoming visitors, providing customer service, scheduling and coordinating and executing events.

Pamela E. Lain

Paralegal

Pamela E. Lain joined Caldwell Law in March 2012.  Pam has a strong background in estate planning, probate and trust settlement in New Hampshire and Vermont. She assists clients with titling assets in a manner consistent with their estate plan, conducts funding/titling training workshops for trust-based and will-based plans, organizes our annual Lifeplan funding review, coordinates our trustee services, and assists clients with trust settlement matters. 

Sheila Smith

Bookkeeper

Sheila Smith joined Caldwell Law in March  2012. Sheila has been a full charge bookkeeper for more than 30 years and works with clients throughout Vermont and New Hampshire. She is also a Sage Timeslips Certified Consultant and a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.
